Always i have been very curious and inquisitive about the things around me, about comments made, observant about cultures, keen to analyze and to make an informed impression based on behaviors, more than all i love to create. Whether it was sketching fighter planes with 8 wings or cooking new recipes, building a bike horn, i have always been a dreamer and not until i was 25 that i discovered design. By then i had an good understanding of engineering and a desire to learn design. I spent hours practicing sketching and perspectives, but struggled a lot with choices. One of my early designs had so many options built into it that it could be very well termed as “ Jack of all, master of none”. Finally i decided to enroll in NCSU’s college of design for a 3 years masters course in ID. To this day i have learned and evolved to look at objects both from an aesthetic and functional point of view. I have been more interested in the simple relations that objects derive from an experience, perhaps a memory- happy or sad which makes a profound change in form and user experience. I crave to design and create such objects based on experiences and the story. To fuel this desire of mine i created “Unfold”, a simple brand which aims to fulfill these goals of simplicity and intricate experiences. Very soon i shall upload various projects on simple daily used products which are reinterpreted based on explicit relationships and experiences.

Achievements are always a stepping stone for success and as a designer i was fortunate to have some myself

design philosophy, i believe in change, i believe that as designers we can induce change in a positive way to enrich people’s lives and also bring about a global awareness to world issues. designers are a set of unique people who are trained in processes, which make them ideal candidates to work at any level or profession.

products are alive, they move through various levels, live through innovative packaging, speak through advertisements, eat through our interest and as designers we are responsible for all this, just as we are responsible for being a good citizen. I believe that evolution is a necessary process and that industrial design is undergoing it’s own. with the emphasis based on research and also on interaction design principles, being one of those designers extremely interested in both, i am inclined to think of more cross disciplinary developments happening.

being from India, a country rich with diversity and cultural heritage, i pride myself in being able to translate those values into my designs. I believe in simplifying the form but amplifying the details. as some one truly said “god is in the details”. my dual disciplinary education in Industrial design and mechanical engineering give me a clear vision of product and production details. I also believe in a human centered approach and try to make the products as friendly as possible to the user interacting with it. i tend to ask a lot of questions to get the right answers.

ideas hold the key to unlock the rarest of opportunities, the endeavor to find new opportunities interest me the most
